Reading, Writing, Hold the Arithmetic
I am an Assistant Professor of English Literature at Radford University in Radford, Virginia, where I focus on British Modern literature and culture as well as gender theory. My dissertation, which investigates the connections between textual experimentation and female identity and subjectivity creation, will soon be published by Routledge in their Literary Criticism and Cultural Theory series. My research interests include the history of the novel, literary and critical theory, film studies, drama, pedagogy, young adult literature, and interdisciplinary approaches to literature and cultural studies. I am especially intrigued by the collisions and collusions of 20th Century British, American, and World literatures. I've taught high school and college for twelve years and still find it more fun than should be allowed. I avoid math whenever possible.
Rick and I have been married for 13 years, and we have a three-year-old daughter, Hallie, and a four-year-old dog, Zola (see photos!). When we are not working or cleaning clop-clop shoes off the floor, we enjoy gardening, Nordic skiing, watching British TV mysteries, camping, taking road trips, and going to the zoo. One of us likes to catch sticks, three of us like to read books, and three of us like to sleep.
Feel free to contact me about shared research interests.
